Cities of the USA

Client: Oh look! That’s a picture of San Francisco by night, isn’t it? Marvellous photos they have in these brochures, these days!
Agent: Yes. That’s the “City by the Bay”, as they call it. San Francisco is famous for its steep hills. And look, this photograph here shows a San Francisco cable car. Incredible, isn’t it? And that little island in the bay is Alcatraz, where the famous prison used to be. Did you see the film, Birdman of Alcatraz?
Client: I did indeed. Burt Lancaster was marvellous!
Agent: Yeah. I agree. Well, they do tours there now. You can go there by boat.
Client: Oh really? And this one’s New York. Look at that wonderful scene.
Agent: Yes, it’s the Statue of Liberty. It’s on its own island in New York Harbor. You can go right up inside its head. I’ve done that. I had a lovely holiday: Staten Island ferry, shopping at Macy’s, rowing in the lake in Central Park.
Client: And this one’s of Washington D.C.?
Agent: Yes, that’s the Washington Monument. It’s the tallest tower in the U.S. Not many people know that. It’s 169 metres high. But there’s an elevator for those who can’t walk up the steps. I’m hoping to go there myself this year.
Client: Marvellous!
