Advice for a World Shopper

Dear Sally,
You lucky thing! I wish I could come with you on your trip. It sounds fabulous! What luck to win round-the-world tickets! I’m sure you’ll have no problems spending the money, too. But I’ll give you a few tips anyway!
When you get to London, you’ll have no suitable winter clothes. Make sure you buy a nice leather coat. Don’t buy any shoes there, wait until you get to Rome to buy boots. Good Italian shoes are less expensive in Italy!
None of the European capital cities are very good for cheap electrical goods. Wait until you get to Hong Kong. It’s not fun to buy clothes in Hong Kong. The boutiques there don’t have cubicles for trying things on.
Once you get to Sydney, there’s no need to hold back. The fashion is great and none of the other cities on your route can compete for good value. You won’t have any space left in your luggage by that time. It’ll be a good idea to send a box home by post.
Finally, remember that there’s no place like home, and no friends like old friends. So while you’re shopping around the world, remember how much I love French perfume, and that I have none.
Your best friend,
Chloe
